I received work last month that a dear friend's teenage daughter is using the Scripture Prayer Calendar for My Husband to pray the Scriptures over her future husband! That really blessed my heart! I really do believe in praying for one's future spouse so I was very happy to receive that message. <br />

We went back to the place where we honeymooned 20 years ago! Yes, that's right! We are celebrating 20 years of marriage on Wednesday, April 5th! To God be ALL the glory! We are so thankful for the hand of God that has been so evident in our marriage and in our lives. <br />
<br />
We had so much fun together during our 3 day stay in Gatlinburg. Our cabin, Sugar Booger is its name, looked exactly the same as it did when we went there for our 10 year anniversary and even the same as 20 years ago when we honeymooned there! Nothing had changed! It was really hard to believe.<br />
<br />
I'm so thankful the same CAN NOT be said for me or for my husband, Phil. We both have changed these last 20 years together. Sure, I'm not happy about the weight I've put on (wink!), but I am thankful I'm not the same woman I was spiritually 20 years ago. I'm thankful for the hard times of marriage (yes, let's be honest - marriage is hard at times) that have caused me to draw closer to God and ask Him for His help to mold me and shape me into the wife Phil needs me to be. <br />

God has taught me so much over the years through my marriage:<br />

And so much more! All of these beautiful characteristics of God have been made alive in me through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in my life. It's a choice every wife and every husband have to make in their marriage. I'm thankful to have been blessed with a husband who has made that choice to grow in God and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work in his life as well. It really does make a difference in marriage. Encourage your spouse and their relationship with God. Help keep them accountable (in a loving way of course) to be in the Bible and to pray every day. Read the Bible and pray TOGETHER every day. It's Living Water for your marriage.</div>

As I look back over these past 20 years, I'm so thankful for all of God's blessings that we have enjoyed! So many good memories with our children and extended family. There are even painful memories like the loss of our first child at 6 weeks into my pregnancy, the loss of both of my grandmothers, a sister, and both of my parents. God has been with us through it ALL. And I know He will continue to be with us as we grow old together.</div>

Marriage is under attack from Satan. I think we all know and understand that. Therefore we have to take a stand for our marriages by coming against our enemy through the power of prayer! The words "His faithful promises are your armor and protection" resonated in my heart. We can PUT ON (as armor and protection) God's promises! So when the enemy comes (and he will) we can stand on the promises of God and speak those promises over whatever the enemy tries to throw against us! Friends this is an exciting revelation to me!! Praise God for His promises! </div>

Let me tell you it's been one obstacle after another to get these calendars ready this month! I told you last month that I had to get a new laptop. Well for some reason I can't get into Microsoft Publisher like I was able to last month to make the calendars. So after fumbling around trying to figure out why, I finally resorted to Microsoft Word and found a calendar template. So I had to reformat everything onto this new template. Phew! I was determined to get these calendars to you on time for March! lol<br />

I want to apologize for not getting the December prayer calendars posted here on the blog. It was such a busy time and I just never got around to posting them here. I heard from a couple of you who were looking for them, so I just wanted you to know I'm sorry I let that slip.<br />

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! We did here. Lots of fun and laughter. My daughter and son-in-love had a very exciting announcement about a week before Christmas! They are expecting their 2nd child! I cannot wait to meet our new grandbaby in July! Maybe he/she will be born on my birthday (July 3)!<br />
<br />
Do you choose a word for the New Year? I have in years past. I was considering not picking a word for this year, but today I decided I would because a word came to mind immediately as I was thinking over the events of 2016.<br />
<br />
My family went through a lot in 2016, especially at the very beginning when my husband fell off a ladder at our church as he was taking down garland from our sanctuary. The months of recovery that followed were some of the hardest times we've walked through in our marriage. It was also some of the most intimate moments of experiencing God in ways that we wouldn't have otherwise. For that I am grateful. If you've been a reader here for a while, you know that I pick an ornament for our Christmas tree that depicts how we have experienced God throughout the year. Due to all that we endured in 2016 with the help of God, I knew that I wanted to have an ornament that referenced the passage in the Bible of the Great I Am. It was impossible to pick just one way we experienced God in 2016 because he was "the Great I Am" in so many different circumstances that we walked through in 2016. I typed up a little something and cut it out to put in an ornament that I found at WalMart. Here's a picture of it:<br />

It's hard to believe we only have this month and December left in the year 2016. I hope this year has been a year of growth for you, your spouse, and your marriage.<br />

November is a time to focus on all that we have to be thankful for. As I think back over this year, I'm reminded of all the ways I am thankful to God for all He has done in the various situations we've had to walk through this year. One situation that comes to mind is my husband's accident in which he fell off of a ladder at our church while taking down Christmas decorations in January that resulted in an acute concussion. God spared his life and healed him completely. It was a painful and lengthy recovery period, but God was faithful to answer our cries for help and healing. That's just one of many instances that come to my mind as I think back over this past year. My family truly has so much to be thankful for. I hope you'll find some time in which to think about all that you are thankful for as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday.<br />

For July's marriage prayer calendar, I focused on Scriptures from the book of Psalms. Sometimes when praying for our spouse, we don't know exactly how we should pray. That's when I head straight to the Psalms! They are wonderful prayers and praises to God that speak for me when I don't have the words or am having trouble expressing what's in my heart.<br />
<br />
My friends, there are words in my heart even now that I so long to share with you. Words that tell all that I have discovered since beginning this journey of prayer for my husband. July is the one year anniversary since inviting you all to join me on this journey of prayer for our marriages! Here's the initial post I wrote announcing about these monthly marriage prayer calendars - <span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://grace-filled-moments.blogspot.com/2015/07/scripture-prayer-calendars-for-our.html" target="_blank">Scripture Prayer Calendars for Our Marriages</a></span> - if you'd like to take a look. I've been amazed at what God has done through this as so many of you have joined me each month and have been so faithful to pray for your spouse too.<br />
<br />
Here are just a few of the thoughts that are in my heart tonight:<br />

<li>Prayer is hard.</li>
</ul>

<li>Prayer is engaging in spiritual battle.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>God may not always answer the prayers you pray for your spouse in the ways you thought He would.</li>
</ul>

<li>Be ready for the spiritual battle you are engaging in when you commit to pray for your spouse by staying in the Word of God and being intentional in your prayer life.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Your prayers may bring things to the surface in your spouse's life that are difficult for you both as you face those things head on together - and with God's help.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Do not grow weary...do not grow weary.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Trust that God loves you and your spouse and He wants your marriage to succeed and thrive.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Your spouse is not your enemy.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>God can help you to love your spouse as He loves them.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Marriage is a beautiful picture of God's love and forgiveness for each one of us.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Forgive always as you have been forgiven by God many, many times as well.</li>
</ul>

April is a <b>very special month</b> to me because that's when I get to celebrate my marriage to my husband, Phil. Not that we don't celebrate our love every day, but wedding anniversaries are extra special, right?! This April 5th we are celebrating 19 years of marriage! We both praise God for His faithfulness, for His goodness, and for the many truths He has taught us concerning marriage.<br />

We have faced many ups and downs in our marriage, but one thing is for sure...<br />

This year's conference will be held June 2-4, 2016 at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC. I've been going to this annual conference for many years now. <span style="font-size: large;">Number One: Lunch Cooler</span></h3>
I love to save money (especially during Conference time!) and packing my lunch cooler each day of the Conference is a must for me. This saves me money and saves me from waiting in the long lines at the snack stations. I fill my lunch cooler with bottled water, protein bars, sandwiches, chips, and fruit. The savings I enjoy from bringing my lunch cooler definitely come in handy inside the <span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://nche.com/conference/2016/vendors/alpha" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Vendor Hall</a></span>!<br />

<h2>
<span style="font-size: large;">Number Two: Schedule Printout</span></h2>
As soon as the <span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://nche.com/conference/2016/schedule/workshop" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">schedule</a></span> hits the NCHE website, I print a copy and start making my game day plan! I really like to take time to read over the speaker intros and the workshop descriptions so that I can prayerfully make my selections of where I will spend my time. Your schedule printout is a must-have that will set you up for a successful Conference experience!<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Number Three: Address Labels</span></h3>
Let me tell you that I learned about this Homeschool Conference must-have last year. I have a ton of address labels that I have gotten for free in my mail after giving donations to various organizations. So last year, I grabbed up a bunch of my address labels and stuffed them in my Conference notebook. I used them in the Vendor Hall for the giveaways that I was interested in. Well, imagine my surprise and delight when I received an email that I had won a giveaway and was able to get $200 worth of books for FREE! Address Labels - must have - don't forget I tell ya!<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Number Four: Good Shoes and Sweater</span></h2>
I'm combining these two must-haves here. You will be doing a lot of walking - no doubt about it! Make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes so your feet aren't aching by the end of the day. Some of the conference rooms are very cold so be sure to bring along a sweater that you can slip into if needed.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Number Five: Tote Bag for Vendor Hall Purchases</span></h3>
I love shopping in Vendor Hall - there I said it!! My Thirty-One zipper tote bag is a must-have for me to carry my purchases in. I'm only homeschooling one child, maybe you are homeschooling more and will need more than one bag. In the past, I've also used those rolling carts, but found them just too bulky to try to get around with inside Vendor Hall. If my tote bag gets full, I can just run to the parking garage and unload my purchases into my van.<br />

I must say this year has not started out anything like I thought it would.<br />
<br />
My family was at church on Wednesday, January 6th, taking down Christmas decorations in the sanctuary when the unthinkable happened. My husband fell off of the 8 foot ladder that he was working on as he tried to hang up one of the banners in our church sanctuary. I ran to him and he was unresponsive at first. An alert friend immediately called 911. I was a mess, crying and scared that I had lost my husband. A dear friend helped to calm me down so I could call my mother-in-law and father-in-law. I couldn't stop crying so she did all the talking. As I was crying, I was praying and pleading with God to spare Phil's life.<br />
<br />
God heard and answered my prayers. I am so thankful! Phil was in ICU Wednesday through Friday before being released. The symptoms from the acute concussion were terrible for my sweet husband. Vomiting, nausea, and headaches plagued him night and day. There were times when all I could do was cry out to God and pray the Scriptures for healing and comfort that I had taken the time over the years to memorize. I cried out and rebuked the devil too! There were nights that Phil and I both took turns praying Scriptures and asking God to intervene in what was an awful and painful time for him.<br />
<br />
God was faithful to answer our prayers every single time as moments of relief for Phil were granted. The neurologist says it will take time for Phil to get back to his normal routine of life. Thankfully the nausea, vomiting, and headaches have stopped, but Phil hasn't been released to go back to work or to resume his work-outs. My husband is a very active man so this waiting is hard for him. But I remind him that God is in control and His timing is perfect. He still has some dizziness that comes and goes so he can't overdo it. I'm taking care of him and encouraging him to relax as much as possible and let me handle everything around the house. <br />
<br />
Friends and family have been the hands and feet of God during this time. We are so blessed to have such love in our lives. I would ask that you'd remember my husband in your prayers for a complete healing and no long term side effects from this injury. You all know how much I believe in the power of prayer and I thank you for joining me in praying for Phil's healing.<br />
<br />

It's been a busy time here between celebrating Thanksgiving in November and now preparing for Christmas.<br />

Yesterday we had a family day and put up our Christmas tree. I made a big pot of chili and cornbread for supper. It was a great time! It's a family Christmas tradition that we've enjoyed every year on December 1st.<br />
<br />
I'm so thankful for your faithfulness to join me each month in praying for our husbands using my Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband. I want to encourage you to not grow weary in praying for your husband. God is working even if you can't see any fruit from your prayers yet. Trust that God's Word will not return void and that it will accomplish that for which it is sent out for (Isaiah 55:11).<br />

Recently, as part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew, I had the opportunity to review <a href="http://www.brinkmanadventures.com/store" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">Brinkman Adventures: Season 3</span></a> with my son. I received the physical CD set for this review. My son was so excited when our package came in the mail! He said, "Alright, I love the Brinkman Adventures! When can we start listening to this one?" We enjoyed listening to the Brinkman Adventures for fun in our homeschool!<br />

The Brinkman Adventures were created by Ian Bultman. He conceived the idea on hot, summer day in July sitting in a hotel room as he was praying and reading his Bible. He was reading in Luke 8:16-18 when the idea came to him.<br />

I believe in the power of praying the Scriptures for my husband! As we head into November - a month that is all about being thankful, I want to encourage you to focus on all the ways you are thankful for your husband.<br />
<br />
It's important we are intentional about the thoughts we think about our husbands. I know this to be a true statement because I've seen it too many times in the past where I have dug a deep pit with the negative thoughts I've let enter my mind concerning my husband. If you continue to let this thought pattern prevail in your mind, those thoughts will manifest into feelings that will have a negative impact on your marriage.<br />
<br />
You can break the bad habit of negative thoughts toward your husband today! God tells us how in His Word.<br />

<i>Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such
things. ~Philippians 4:8</i></blockquote>

This Scripture verse transformed my thought patterns concerning my husband! Whenever thoughts try to enter my mind that do not line up with the truth of this verse, I have learned to quickly cast aside that thought and replace it with one of these traits above: true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. I hope you will be encouraged to do the same.<br />
<br />
Another habit that will help you to transform your thoughts concerning your husband is to pray for him. As I've said here before, even more than carrying the title of "husband", my husband is more importantly my brother in Christ and he needs my prayers.<br />
<br />
When you begin to pray for your husband, you will see a change in your thoughts toward him.<br />
<br />
When you see areas where he is struggling, instead of complaining or letting it create a division in your marriage, you will see specific areas to concentrate your prayers for him.<br />
<br />
Here's the November Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband. It is my prayer that you will print a copy of this marriage prayer calendar and place it within your home so that you will see it every day and pray the verse for your husband.<br />

I used a couple of the Homeschool Courses offered in Standard Deviants Accelerate in our homeschool with my son. Since he is delayed in math, I chose to focus on the Arithmetic and Fundamental Mathematics modules.<br />

You'll notice in the picture above that there are tabs listed at the top of the page.<br />

The Video tab contains the teaching video and written transcript of the lesson. The entire lesson can be watched on the video which is great for a mom who doesn't feel strong teaching math to her kids. <br />

The Vocab tab contains the vocabulary words from the lesson. The math vocabulary word definition is listed as well as a sound icon where the student can hear the word and definition.<br />
<br />
Next is the Diagram tab where a math puzzle, etc. is given for your student to work.<br />
<br />
The Quiz tab has the lesson's quiz for your student to complete. I love that these quizes are automatically graded for me! If your student misses a question, the correct answer is given in a video. There is a "see video" button that your student will press in order to see the correct answer and how to arrive at the correct answer.<br />
<br />
The final tab is the Written Answer tab. Here a question is given relating to the theme of the lesson. Also listed under that main question is a couple of other writing prompt questions that you can have your student answer in written form. You can get a notebook for your student to keep these questions and answers in. <br />
<br />
The lessons are presented in both written and video format. You are given the option to print out the full transcript of the lesson too.<br />

I received the spiral bound version for this review, but it is also available for purchase as a PDF file. This resource will be a wonderful addition to your homeschool as it fits perfectly with many curriculum choices and teaching styles. It is suitable for all ages.<br />

My son loves history, so we had a great time going through the different time periods and making our selections.<br />

<b>Teaching with Games Set</b> is a fantastic way to get some fun in your child's daily learning! There are 25 game ideas for you to choose from. The recorded workshop gives you ideas on how to adapt the games to any subject in your homeschool. You can use these for any grade level too. There are two DVDS and one CD-ROM. DVD One has a running time of 70 minutes and DVD Two has a running time of 60 minutes.<br />

We had a great time using the Wheel of Fortune game idea for my son's spelling words each week. It was a fun way for him to practice his spelling words. We used the Pictionary game idea for things we were learning about in History.<br />

<b>A Word Write Now</b> is a thematic thesaurus divided into organized word lists for character qualities and behavior traits. IEW has also divided the word lists even more by parts of speech. Each category of words are color coded by nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. There's even a section for students to add their own words. It's 100 pages in full color and is spiral bound.<br />
<br />
There are four sections of A Word Write Now: <br />
