My Debt Has Been Paid

Today is Good Friday. I've spent time in God's Word this week reading about all the events that have led up to this day. It can seem odd that a day that was filled with such violence and cruelty could be remembered by Christians as "Good Friday". But truthfully, it is good for us. As we remember this day, the depth of Jesus' love for us is magnified all the more. We need to remember He came to live a perfect life so that He could be the perfect sacrifice required for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus willingly paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross so that our relationship with God could be restored.

My Debt Has Been Paid

 A debt I could not pay

Led Jesus to the cross that day.

With love in His heart

He did his part

To restore my standing

Before God.

Now I can come into His Holy Presence

And sit at His feet in reverence.

Thank you, Jesus, for loving me.

Thank you, Jesus, for setting me free.

Sin no longer has a hold on my life.

With Your Holy Spirit living in me 

I have the power I need

To be who You have called me to be.

So help me to rest in the victory You've won

and live this life in the example of the Son.

His love is truly amazing...and I am so thankful to Him for all that He has done for me! He did it for you too! Take time today to remember why we can say "Good Friday".
