My Word of Encouragement (Blogging Through the Bible)

Encouragement for reading the book of Exodus

I'm going to start off today's post by simply encouraging you to stay with me in this week's reading of Exodus. We are hitting some of those chapters in the Bible where we just want to skim over - or even skip all together - in our reading of the Bible.

But we're not going to do that here. I have made a commitment to God as I've committed along with Courtney Joseph of Women Living Well, home of Good Morning Girls to read through the entire Bible.

Every. Single. Page.

As. Long. As. It. Takes.

Even the hard chapters like we'll be in this week.

I found Courtney's blog post today to be so very encouraging. Please take a moment to head over there and read it so that you can be encouraged today too. While there you can pick up a FREE bookmark for your Bible with this month's reading plan.

Courtney made one point in her post that really stood out to me and it is something I intend to do as I journey through these 5 chapters this week. Here's what she said:

There will be times where finding application will not be easy and that is OKAY! Sometimes we are simply learning – in it’s context – about the character of God. Sometimes the application is simply that God’s ways are higher than ours. ~Courtney Joseph

I'm taking this word of encouragement as I have my study time this week, and let it guide me. So you may not find me including an application in some of my SOAK's this week. I wanted to you know why.

Here is our reading plan for this week.

Here is my SOAK for today (Monday):

Exodus 21

Scripture: Exodus 21:1 “Now these are the judgments which you shall set before them:”

Observations: This is the first of three chapters in which God presents the laws to be upheld by the judges appointed by Moses in Exodus 18:17-22. These laws are called judgments because the judges were going to give their judgments according to them. The rest of the chapter deals with particular cases and how they were to be determined.

Application: God’s Word is our answer for everything we face in this life. It’s my direction to follow as a child of God as I seek to live a life of obedience to Him.

Kneel: Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for Your Word that still speaks to us today. May I search the pages of Your Word to find all the answers for my life as I seek to use it as a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. Help me to be obedient to all that You ask of me so that my life can be a witness to others of Your saving grace. In the life-changing name of Jesus I pray. Amen!

I'll see you back here on Wednesday for another Blogging Through the Bible post! Have a blessed week, friends!

Walking in His Grace,
Laurie

  1. Hi Laurie, I just wanted to thank you for continuing through these tougher chapters. It is a huge encouragement to me that you so revere the Word of the Lord that you would slog through these difficult chapters. I am really encouraged that you can find application and truth among these verses, and I will seek God's truth in them too. I have discovered your blog recently (through Courtney's blog) and I will be returning often. God bless and please keep it up. Hugs, Jennifer
