I received work last month that a dear friend's teenage daughter is using the Scripture Prayer Calendar for My Husband to pray the Scriptures over her future husband! That really blessed my heart! I really do believe in praying for one's future spouse so I was very happy to receive that message.

We can trust that God will answer when we pray His word friends. So let's not grow weary, but look to God and His Holy Spirit to strengthen us as we fight for our marriages through the gift of praying God's Word over our spouses!

April Scripture Prayer Calendars for Your Husband and for Your Wife

My husband and I just got back from Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Monday. We went back to the place where we honeymooned 20 years ago! Yes, that's right! We are celebrating 20 years of marriage on Wednesday, April 5th! To God be ALL the glory! We are so thankful for the hand of God that has been so evident in our marriage and in our lives.

We had so much fun together during our 3 day stay in Gatlinburg. Our cabin, Sugar Booger is its name, looked exactly the same as it did when we went there for our 10 year anniversary and even the same as 20 years ago when we honeymooned there! Nothing had changed! It was really hard to believe.

I'm so thankful the same CAN NOT be said for me or for my husband, Phil. We both have changed these last 20 years together. Sure, I'm not happy about the weight I've put on (wink!), but I am thankful I'm not the same woman I was spiritually 20 years ago. I'm thankful for the hard times of marriage (yes, let's be honest - marriage is hard at times) that have caused me to draw closer to God and ask Him for His help to mold me and shape me into the wife Phil needs me to be.

God has taught me so much over the years through my marriage:

Mercy
Grace
Forgiveness
Agape Love
Patience
Kindness
Gentleness
Self Control

And so much more! All of these beautiful characteristics of God have been made alive in me through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in my life. It's a choice every wife and every husband have to make in their marriage. I'm thankful to have been blessed with a husband who has made that choice to grow in God and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work in his life as well. It really does make a difference in marriage. Encourage your spouse and their relationship with God. Help keep them accountable (in a loving way of course) to be in the Bible and to pray every day. Read the Bible and pray TOGETHER every day. It's Living Water for your marriage.

As I look back over these past 20 years, I'm so thankful for all of God's blessings that we have enjoyed! So many good memories with our children and extended family. There are even painful memories like the loss of our first child at 6 weeks into my pregnancy, the loss of both of my grandmothers, a sister, and both of my parents. God has been with us through it ALL. And I know He will continue to be with us as we grow old together.

Marriage is under attack from Satan. I think we all know and understand that. Therefore we have to take a stand for our marriages by coming against our enemy through the power of prayer! I'll never forget the day God spoke into my heart about the importance of praying for Phil. I wrote a blog post about this called The One Realization That Has Totally Changed My Marriage. I'll be sharing that with you soon so stay tuned!

December Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband

Sorry to be a day late with the December Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband. It's been a busy time here between celebrating Thanksgiving in November and now preparing for Christmas.

Yesterday we had a family day and put up our Christmas tree. I made a big pot of chili and cornbread for supper. It was a great time! It's a family Christmas tradition that we've enjoyed every year on December 1st.

I'm so thankful for your faithfulness to join me each month in praying for our husbands using my Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband. I want to encourage you to not grow weary in praying for your husband. God is working even if you can't see any fruit from your prayers yet. November Scripture Prayer Calendar for Your Husband


I believe in the power of praying the Scriptures for my husband! As we head into November - a month that is all about being thankful, I want to encourage you to focus on all the ways you are thankful for your husband.

It's important we are intentional about the thoughts we think about our husbands. I know this to be a true statement because I've seen it too many times in the past where I have dug a deep pit with the negative thoughts I've let enter my mind concerning my husband. If you continue to let this thought pattern prevail in your mind, those thoughts will manifest into feelings that will have a negative impact on your marriage.

You can break the bad habit of negative thoughts toward your husband today! God tells us how in His Word.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. ~Philippians 4:8

This Scripture verse transformed my thought patterns concerning my husband! Whenever thoughts try to enter my mind that do not line up with the truth of this verse, I have learned to quickly cast aside that thought and replace it with one of these traits above: true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. I hope you will be encouraged to do the same.

Another habit that will help you to transform your thoughts concerning your husband is to pray for him. As I've said here before, even more than carrying the title of "husband", my husband is more importantly my brother in Christ and he needs my prayers.

When you begin to pray for your husband, you will see a change in your thoughts toward him.

When you see areas where he is struggling, instead of complaining or letting it create a division in your marriage, you will see specific areas to concentrate your prayers for him.

Today is also my husband's birthday! We're celebrating with his favorite pizza from Sir Pizza and I'm baking his birthday cake - Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cake. This cake was such a hit last year as his birthday cake that he has requested it again this year! You can't go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter, right?!

I'm so excited to be in Proverbs 13 today with the Good Morning Girls! Our reading today in Proverbs with the Good Morning Girls was in Proverbs 13. We see in verses 13-14 that anyone who despises the Word of God brings destruction on himself, but those who receive the commandments of God will be rewarded. The reward is eternal in Heaven when we believe in the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. We need to keep our husbands covered in prayer that they would always have a deep love for the Word of God.

One of my prayers for my husband is that he would have a hunger and a thirst for more of God's Word. He's in the Bible a lot already as he studies and prepares as a Children's Pastor. But in his own personal devotion time, I've witnessed God answering that prayer, friends.

Verse 14 tells us that wise teaching is a fountain of life. The Holy Spirit is the Master Teacher for our husbands as He opens up the truth of God's Word - a fountain of life - to our husbands during their daily quiet time in the Bible. It is only by the truth of God's Word that the hearts of our husbands will continue to be turned away from the snares of death.

"Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, 
but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded.  
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, 
that one may turn away from the snares of death."
~Proverbs 13:13-14

We are in a spiritual battle for our marriages and for the soul of our husbands, ladies. We must be equipped for the battle with the Word of God. Let's join together in this spiritual battle, friends, by committing to pray daily for our husbands. Growing a Garden of Prayer

Growing a garden of prayer in your life is a beautiful and lasting way to commune with God. It's not about spouting off a list of things you'd like to have God give you, but rather a way to align your heart with the heart of God.

Just like anything else in our Christian walk, this is an important lesson we have to learn as we continue to walk faithfully with God.

One of the best ways to ensure that you are praying in the will of God for your life is to pray God's Word back to Him. There are many promises contained in the Bible that we can stand on as children of God. Just like the design I create for my raised garden bed each Spring before I plant my seeds, I have the design necessary for my prayer life right in the pages of the Holy Bible.

Growing a garden of prayer requires that I prepare my heart each time I enter into my prayer closet. Today I'm over at Worshipful Living sharing about cultivating a heart for prayer. Please join me there now.

Praying the Scriptures Over My Husband's Lost Car Keys

God even cares about the small stuff


Yesterday's #prayingthescriptures verse from my Advent devotional Jesus, Light of the World...Praying the Scriptures through Advent was found in Psalm 139:12, and that is what I want to share about today.

"Even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You." -Psalm 139:12


Little did I know that in just a few moments of finishing my devotional time with this Scripture that I would be praying it over my husband's lost car keys!

Yes, really!

Let me share the story with you...

Yesterday afternoon my husband realized he had lost his car keys when he needed them to put 2 bags of clothes in his car to take to the Goodwill. He has one of my Pampered Chef Simple Additions bowls that he keeps his wallet and keys in that is on my kitchen counter. When he went to grab them from where he always keeps them...they were not there!

We turned this house upside down looking for his keys...even digging through the trash. 

I finally stopped us and said we need to pray. 


I held my husband's hands and prayed about those car keys that were hidden in the darkness to our natural eyes. 

It went something like this...

Heavenly Father, we come to You right now and ask that You would bring to light Phil's car keys that are hidden in the darkness to us. We are told in Your Word that even the darkness is not dark to You Father, and You know exactly where those car keys are at this moment because even darkness is as light to You. We pray that You would help us now to find those keys. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen! 

After praying my husband went to his rain jacket that was hanging in our laundry room and found his keys in one of the pockets! We had been searching for 30 minutes at least before I stopped us to pray! 

He had been wearing that rain jacket Sunday afternoon when he had gotten home from going to a friend's house who had given us their entertainment center for free. He had unlocked our house door, put the keys in his rain jacket pocket, and went back to our friend's truck to help unload the entertainment center. He had totally forgotten that he had slipped them into the pocket of his rain jacket!

When he pulled out those keys I could not hold back the tears. We held each other and I prayed and cried tears of joy as I thanked God for answering His Word that I had prayed and for caring about something so small as lost car keys.

God is faithful to answer His Word when we pray it back to Him...even for lost car keys!
