Motivated Moms Review

Anyone else need some motivation - or better still, a way to help you keep everything you have to do organized so that you can peacefully lay your head down at night without a forgotten "something" popping into your mind?! I was thankful to have the opportunity to review Motivated Moms Ebooks from Motivated Moms (http://www.motivatedmoms.com), a planner that helped keep me on track with my busy daily schedule.

Motivated Moms Review

I'll be the first to admit that I need all the motivation I can get to stay organized with my busy daily schedule. It's hard for me to keep up with all that has to be done on a daily basis - there's the homeschooling schedule, the cleaning schedule, the cooking schedule, the Bible/quiet time schedule, etc. There are nights when I lay down in bed - exhausted - only to have something I forgot to do pop into mind! It makes it almost impossible to shut off my mind so that I can get some rest so that I'm not a zombie the next day.

What's Available from Motivated Moms?

Motivated Moms provides a chore planning system that is available in the two following products: the Motivated Moms Ebooks, which are printable Ebooks from which you can choose the one that best fits your needs and as the Motivated Moms iOS App for your iPhone, iPad, iPad Touch, or Android. For this review, I chose to receive the printable Ebook, 2014 Motivated Moms Page Per Day Chore Planner with Scheduled Bible Reading {Color}, that I downloaded to my computer.

All the work has been done for us as far as organizing what needs to be done on a daily basis as well as other chores that sometimes get forgotten. I love the scheduled daily Bible reading plan that was included on the option I chose. Some mornings are so hectic, I don't get to do my in-depth Bible study so this is a wonderful feature for me personally. They have it planned so that you read through the entire Bible in a year!

Motivated Moms Review
This is an example of the planning system I chose. See more options on the Motivated Moms website.

What's the Price?

The following prices are listed for each product choice that is available through Motivated Moms. For the app, the price is .99 cents for one month or $7.99 for one year. The cost for the printable Ebook download is $8.00.

Age Range

Motivated Moms is for anyone wishing to have help with their chore planning system. (Yes, that would be me!)

How Motivated Moms Has Helped Me

I love this chore planning system! Motivated Moms have done a wonderful job organizing chores into a planning system that works.

Instead of printing off the whole Ebook, I chose to print it off weekly. I placed it on my refrigerator so that it was visible to me every day. As chores were completed, I simply marked them off the list. There was great satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing everything that needed to be completed for that day had been done. Once the week was completed, I hole-punched the planner page and put it in my 3-ring binder; and I printed off the next week I would need.

Motivated Moms is helping to keep me accountable in my daily chores. It has also helped me to run my day more smoothly by keeping me on task of what needs to be accomplished. I just feel better about my days now!

My Opinion of Motivated Moms

If you haven't already guessed by now...I love Motivated Moms! It is a wonderful chore planning system available at a fantastic price! I really couldn't ask for more. Check out their website at Motivated Moms or you can connect with them as well on the following social media outlets: Facebook and Twitter.

How to Control Your Emotions Week 5 Blog Link-up Party

This week we close our book study of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming). We finish with Chapter 5 "What Happens When We Blow It" and the Appendix: Scriptures to Help Fight Off the Lies. Thank you so much for taking this journey with me!

In this chapter, we look again to David who is known as a man "after God's own heart" (Acts 13:22). David pursued God; and yes, he did blow it at times like we all do, but he didn't let those failures stop him from continuing to run hard after God. That's what we must continue to do as well during our times of failure in overcoming our emotions.

I've Blown It...Now What?

Yes, we all will have not-so-great moments of failing to overcome our emotions. We must not allow these times of failure to prevent us from continuing to run toward God's best for us and our emotions.

I know I must repent when I mess up and let my emotions take me over the edge. If it involves one of my children, my husband, other family member or a friend, I must go to that person and ask for their forgiveness. I must bow before God and ask for His forgiveness knowing that He will be faithful to forgive. I must continue to keep asking God to give me the victory over my emotions. I must hold on to the victories He does give me as a sweet taste of what can be in a heart that is running hard after His best.

Armed with Scripture!

I love the 25 Scripture verses that Brooke gives us in the Appendix: Scriptures to Help Fight Off the Lies. There is even a link included to the printable of these verses so we can print them and post them in a prominent place in our homes or even make multiple copies to carry in our Bibles or purses. These verses will be so beneficial to us as we learn how to process our emotions with the "Feel, Know, Do" method we are now armed with.

My Prayers Are With You!

Here's my something special I mentioned on Monday that I want to leave you with: it's the song "Overcomer" by Mandisa. Every time I have heard this song on the radio during these past five weeks, I have thought of each one of you who have taken this journey with me. I pray that God will give you all sweet victories as you surrender your emotions with the "Feel, Know, Do" method Brooke has shown us in How to Overcome Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming). Turn it up loud and know that I'm rockin' out with you! lol

Be sure to share your thoughts on our final chapter by commenting below or by linking-up your blog post with the tool below the video.

This week we'll end our book study just as we began it...with another example from David. And, Brooke will leave us with words of encouragement that we can hold on to in the battle, as well as a treasure of Scriptures that we can use to fight off the lies of our enemy, Satan.

I have something special I want to share with you all too when we end our time together on Friday with our Blog Link-up Party, so please be sure to meet me back here on Friday dear friends, as we share our thoughts and come to a close in our book study.

How to Control Your Emotions Week 4 Blog Link-up Party

Chapter 4 of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming) really opened my eyes to the example of how Jesus handled the hard moments of life. The title of this chapter is "Sometimes, We Just Have to Walk Away". We all know how hard that is to do. Especially when we feel like we've been wronged and need to "stand our ground" because of our need to feel right. Thankfully, Brooke uncovers a beautiful truth from Matthew Chapter 14 that gives us another choice.

Discovering Another Choice

You know how you read something in the Bible over and over, and then you read it another time, and it's like the light bulb goes off over your head...yeah, that's what happened to me when I read Matthew Chapter 14 as I pieced together a series of difficult moments in Jesus' life. I discovered from His example another choice we all have.

Jesus' Example

Jesus withdrew from the crowds often. It was His time to invite God into His circumstances as He withdrew to pray about whatever was going on in His life that left Him with a choice to make about how He would respond.

Matthew Chapter 13 ends with Jesus being rejected by the people of Nazareth...the people of His own hometown. In the very next chapter, while dealing with His rejection, Jesus gets the terrible news of the beheading of his cousin, John the Baptist. That's a lot to deal with! And here's the beautiful truth that I can hold on to in the hard moments of my life, when it seems like everything is going against me:

"Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself." (Matthew 14:13, emphasis mine)

I have another choice in how I respond to the difficult things of life. I can withdraw to a quiet place, bow my head in surrender to God, and invite Him into my circumstances. I can ask Him to help me respond to others with His grace moving through me. I can pour out my hurts and my confusion to Him, so He can pour His love and mercy into me. Then, I can give to others what the Holy Spirit of God has so graciously given to me.

It's a choice we all have to make. Will I get it right all the time? No, I will not. If I could get it right, there wouldn't be any need for the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. But God knew I would need His help. The choice is mine to make. I pray that my choices would bring honor and glory to God.

How to Control Your Emotions Week 4

Welcome to Week 4 everyone! This week we are reading Chapter 4 "Sometimes, We Just Have to Walk Away".

This week, we are going to learn about Jesus' example in dealing with the difficult things of life. Yes, it's hard in the heat of the moment to keep our emotions under the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit, but we'll learn from this chapter that it is possible. We'll take a look into the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 14, to see the example Jesus gave us and how it is actually possible for us to respond in the right way instead of what feels right.

I'm excited about this possibility and can't wait to dive in to our reading this week to learn more! I'll see you here on Friday for our Blog Link-up Party where we'll share our thoughts about what God showed us this week!

Learning How to Choose,
Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 3 Blog Link-up Party

The power to overcome...where do we get it?

Chapter 3 of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming) is one of my favorite chapters because it reminds us of the power we have as children of God - the same power that raised Jesus from the dead!

That excites me and gives me hope!

Brooke does an amazing job of explaining this power of heaven to her son in a way that he can understand. She shares a conversation she had with her son after the grocery store car buggy incident with us in Chapter 3 "Where Do We Get the Power to Overcome?". I am so thankful for Brooke's example here in the words she chose to share with us in this book. It's something I'd never thought to do with my own son until I read this chapter; and not only with my son, I'm remembering this power for myself when my emotions seek to overcome me in my reactions. In all of my relationships - with my son, my daughter, my husband, my friends and family - I have to remember it is so important to stop when I feel my emotions rising to an unhealthy point and think about all that Jesus did so that I could have the choice to choose well in how I respond.

I think Brooke hits on an important key when she shares about the relationship with her best friend in college that ended because she let her emotions control her - and that is learning what triggers us to lose control of our emotions. When we pay honest attention to what things trigger our emotions to go out of control, we can learn to choose to overcome in those times. But it won't be because of any power we have in and of ourselves...

The Power of the Holy Spirit

I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit who comes to live inside of us when we become Christians! It is the Holy Spirit who changes us from the inside out. It is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to choose well in responding to those triggers that would seek to spin our emotions out of control. We have to recognize who we are as children of God! I can't help but think of a line from The Lion King when Mufasa tells Simba, "Remember who you are!" In those heated moments of life, we have to remember who we are in Christ.

We have to believe the truth of Romans 8:11 that tells us:

"If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

This chapter has taught me I need to pause in the heat of the moment, take my eyes off of the circumstances and put them on Jesus, who will come to my aid the moment I ask. Brooke's prayer on page 19 did just that. Her day wasn't necessarily perfect afterwards, BUT her heart was changed which enabled her to approach her boys differently. God will do the same for us!

I love how Brooke ends this chapter by giving us some pointers as we are starting out. I want to list them here briefly. More detail for each point is given in her book, which if you haven't gotten yet, I highly recommend that you do! You can get it here for only $3.99!

This is a book I will be going to over and over again to remind me of the power to overcome that is mine as a daughter of the King!

Here are the points to remember as we begin walking in the power that is ours as daughters of the King:

  1. Take baby steps.
  2. Get in the Word.
  3. Ask your family, friends, and loved ones to keep you accountable.
  4. Pray.

Well, friends, now it's your turn to share! Please link-up your blog post or leave your thoughts in the comments section. I'll see you here again on Monday as we prepare for Chapter 4. I can't believe our time together is almost over! I pray God is touching your heart through this book study. Have a blessed weekend!

Learning to overcome together,
Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 3

Wow, here we are in Week 3 of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming)! How is everyone doing? I would love to hear from you, so take a moment to leave me a comment of what you are learning so far in our journey.

I love Chapter 3 "Where Do We Get the Power to Overcome?" because it is a wonderful reminder of the power of Heaven that we have access to as children of God.

If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead
will also give life to your mortal bodies
through His Spirit who dwells in you.
(Romans 8:11)

As we read this week, I pray that our hearts would be opened to the power of Heaven that is available to us as children of God, and that we will remember who we are in the heat of the moment so that we can choose to respond to the honor and glory of God with our emotions.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this chapter! I look forward to meeting here with you on Friday for our Blog Link-up Party where we'll share our hearts. If you don't have a blog, please leave your thoughts in the comments so we can learn from each other!

Learning to overcome together,
Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 2 Blog Link-up Party

Is it just me, or has Week 2 flown by?! Honestly, this has been a tough week. My emotions have been up and down as I've dealt with struggles my son has faced this week. You see, he has Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, and ADD. Bless his heart, this has been a tough week for him and for me as his mom. His anxieties have stressed me out and made me cry out to God on his behalf. I've been all over the place with my emotions.

This week's reading was Chapter 2 How to Overcome Lies With the Truth. It's exactly what I needed to get me through this tough week!

Here are some quotes from this chapter that made a huge impact on me this week.

I'd spent so much time on my knees about the things that were wrong that I'd forgotten to look at the things that were right.

And yet, as my emotions went from 0 to 10 in a matter of seconds, I realized I had done the same thing—overlooked the good for the bad.

My feelings escalated based on the reality of what I was currently seeing, and it took the Word of God to bring a new reality.

These three quotes remind me to look for the good even in the midst of trying times with my son, and to look at these situations through the lens of God's Word so that the truth can shine through the lies that seek to send my emotions in a downward spiral.

More quotes from Chapter 2...

Romans 8:6 says, "For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace." Doesn’t this verse perfectly describe the challenge we face in getting past our own emotions? Almost every time I get caught in a difficult situation my emotions rise up from the ashes threatening to consume me, and I’m left with a serious choice: set my mind on Jesus and His never-changing truths, or choose to believe the lies instead.

Setting my mind on the Spirit—that gift of God that is able to work in me making me more like Jesus—brought back my peace, and helped me see God’s reality instead of my own. Feel, Know, Do.

Really, what I want you to understand, friends, is that what we can see and feel are often entirely different from God’s reality—the true reality.

What amazing insight these final three quotes from How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming) have brought to me this week!

Finding Truth

Here's the truth I came away with in this week's reading:

When I look at life's circumstances through the lens of the Word of God, my flawed perception of reality is changed by the truth of God's Word. I can trust that God is in control and that everything He has said in His Word will come to pass in His time.

Focusing on the Good

Remember our challenge this week? In my post on Monday, I asked you to focus on what your son is doing that is good. As I've typed the words for this post, thoughts of the struggles my son and I have had this week have raced through my mind, and the Holy Spirit brings one very important "good thing" to the forefront of my mind about my son.

He is going to God in prayer!

This week as he has battled with anxieties he has prayed to God asking Him for help. Our bedtime routine includes reading two Psalms and praying - first my son prays and then I pray for him. When these anxieties began to overtake him at the beginning of this week, my son's prayer brought tears that I could not hold back. My heart broke for him as he cried out to God. I couldn't believe the prayer that was coming out of his mouth! It literally moved me to tears. He has continued to powerfully pray for himself every night this week. The fact that he is learning to go to God in prayer does my heart good. It's what I hope will come to my mind in those moments when my emotions need to come under the truth of God's reality and not my own.

Learning to Overcome,

Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 2

Welcome back for Week 2 of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming)

This week we are reading Chapter 2 How To Overcome Lies With the Truth. I have to tell you I cried as I read Brooke's heartbreaking recollection of her miscarriage at the beach. In that story, she reminds us all of the hope we have in finding good things in all situations if we take the time to look for them.

I think all of us moms get caught in the trap of focusing on all the negative so much so that we forget all that our sons are doing that is good.

This week as you read through Chapter 2, I want to challenge you to focus on what your son(s) is doing that is good. Link up your blog post or comments here on Friday telling me all about it! If we're busy focusing on the good this week, hopefully we can better handle our emotions when the rough spots happen.

Knowing what God's Word says about this will be instrumental to us as we seek to complete this week's challenge and in learning the "Feel, Know, Do" method. The Bible is our source of truth that can change the way we feel as we look at our circumstances through its lens.

Let's use this verse from Romans 8:6 that Brooke quotes in Chapter 2 as we seek to focus on the good about our sons this week:

"For to set the mind on the flesh is death,
but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace."

I'll see you back here on Friday for our blog link-up party where we'll share our thoughts about this chapter and how we did in our challenge for this week. Remember, it's okay if you don't have a blog - I invite you to share too in the comments section of Friday's post!

Overcoming with the Truth,
Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 1 Blog Link-up Party

Welcome friends! I hope this first week has been a blessing to you. I can't wait to read your blog posts about what you gleaned from this week's reading! At the end of this post you'll find the link to use so you can link-up your blog post. If you do not have a blog, please share your thoughts from this week in the comments section at the end of my post.

This week we read the Introduction and Chapter 1 of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming). See below the questions I asked in my post on Monday for our discussion today. In case you missed Monday's post, you can read it here.

Week 1 Questions

As you read through Chapter 1 this week, think of a time when you've invited God into your circumstances and felt a shift in your emotions that caused you to react in a way that pleased God. Next, think of a time when you failed to invite God into your circumstances and instead let your emotions take control in a way that did not honor God. Looking back on that time now with the "Feel, Know, Do" method, what steps should you have taken instead that would have been pleasing to God?

Chapter 1 ends with Brooke speaking about the importance of worship. Think of a time when your act of worship has brought peace in the midst of undesirable circumstances. Describe your act of worship and what it meant to you.

I'll go first in sharing what God laid on my heart through this week's reading.

Moving from Anger to Inviting God Into My Circumstances

My whole life changed during the month of June 2012 when my husband and I were given the news that our son had Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, and ADD. This past year and four months have held many trying and exhausting situations as we try to help our son with the struggles related to these diagnosis'. I have not always handled my emotions in a healthy way. My blog actually started as a way to voice my struggles as I tried to make sense of all that was happening. I've dealt with a wide range of emotions...being mad and crying out to God...anxieties over what the future holds for my son...being short tempered with my son...it's been an emotional roller coaster ride! So when I had the opportunity to read Brooke's book and lead this study, I was so thankful! I know that God has brought Brooke, her book, and this study into my life to help me. I believe you are here too because you feel the same way!

I remember clearly a time when I failed to invite God into my circumstances when this was all just unfolding for my family. I shared how I was feeling and the outcome in my post I Wrestled with God and He Won. I was mad at what was happening in our life. It all came to a head for me one night as I did bedtime devotions with my son. I was reading Psalm 100 and Psalm 150 to him and it was hard to even get the words out. I realized then how unhealthy my emotions had gotten. After putting my son to bed I knew I needed to get alone with God and work out my feelings. You can read all about it in the post I've linked to above. In short, it was during this time too that I invited God into my circumstances in that moment; and there was definitely a shift in my emotions. Read these words I wrote in my post:

My questions and anger turned into tears of thanksgiving as I reminded God of his promises to me which are found in His Word that over the years I have hidden in my heart.

and

So I'm giving up myself in this struggle and finding God's gift of peace as I surrender the unknown to Him. I'm trusting that all things will work together for good because my family and I love God and we are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Can you see the "Feel, Know, Do" method? I can, and it's amazing to me that today God is confirming our interaction we had that night over a year later as I learn the "Feel, Know, Do" method through How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming)

That night after I wrote the blog post describing what had happened, I found myself searching YouTube for worship videos. I even created a Pinterest worship board to pin my favorite worship songs. I sat in the dark that night listening to worship music and praising God for His goodness. I also asked God to forgive me for the anger I had felt; and thanked Him for the peace He had given me.

My deepest desire is to love Jesus well and shine His light in my home. I believe in the Word of God and I know the power it has to speak truth into my circumstances. I'm learning how important it is to stand on that truth instead of letting my negative emotions take me on a downward spiral that is no good for me or my son. I hope you'll join me here again on Monday as we take on Chapter 2 How to Overcome Lies with the Truth!

Learning to Overcome,

Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Week 1

Welcome to all of you who have committed to join me for the next 5 weeks as we walk through the pages of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming). I'm so excited today has finally arrived! I have been anticipating our time together and praying our hearts and minds would be open to what God wants to show us through our study.

I am so amazed at the positive response to the invitation to join this book study. It is so comforting to know that I am not alone when it comes to struggling with my emotions. You are not alone either! For the next 5 weeks it is my prayer that together we will learn that our emotions do not have to control us and that we can also learn how to overcome the downward spiral of emotions that seek to run our lives. I truly believe Brooke's book will be the tool God uses to help us learn how to react differently to situations by using the "Feel, Know, Do" method she describes.

So let's get started with Week 1...

Week 1 Reading

This week we will be reading the Introduction and Chapter 1.

Week 1 Questions

In the Introduction, Brooke lists 4 questions for us to ask ourselves before digging into the truths that are necessary for us to overcome the challenges we face with our feelings and emotions. Let's examine our hearts using those questions Brooke asks us on page 5:
  1. Do we believe the Word of God is true?
  2. Will we study the Bible, taking the time to understand what it says?
  3. Will we choose to believe what the Bible says is true, even when what we see and feel screams something different?
  4. What is our deepest desire? (To be right or to love Jesus well?)
Settling in our hearts the answers to these questions is necessary before we begin to learn how to bring our emotions under control with the authority of God's Word.

In Chapter 1, Brooke explains the "Feel, Know, Do" method using Psalm 13 written by David at a time in which his emotions were seeking to take control in the midst of his circumstances. I think it's important to look back and think how we could have done things differently so that the next time we are faced with a similar situation we can be better equipped to make the choice that will honor God with our emotions.

Chapter 1 ends with Brooke speaking about the importance of worship. Think of a time when your act of worship has brought peace in the midst of undesirable circumstances. Describe your act of worship and what it meant to you.

Meet me back here on Friday for our Blog Link-up Party where we will share our answers to these questions and discuss our thoughts of this week's reading. If you do not have a blog to link-up, you are invited to leave your answers and thoughts in the comments section of my blog post on Friday.

I'd like to close our time together today in prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for each woman who is here with me today, ready to begin this journey of surrender with our emotions. I pray that You would open our hearts and minds to be sensitive to what You would have us learn this week. Bind the hand of the enemy who would seek to keep us bound up in lies instead of Your truth that sets us free. Thank You for Your love and mercy that is new every morning. Be with us this week in all that we do. Help us to make choices that honor Your name. May the words of our mouth and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord God. In the life-changing name of Jesus I pray. Amen!

Until Friday,

Laurie

How to Control Your Emotions Book Study

Welcome friends! I am so glad you have made the commitment to join me on this 5 week journey into Brooke McGlothlin's new ebook How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming). Our study doesn't start until Monday, October 14. Today I just want to touch base with you to share some of my thoughts before we dive into our study on Monday and to give you a few reminders of how our book study will work.

My Thoughts About the Journey We Are About to Embark

Do you know that you have been prayed for? Jesus prayed for you over 2,000 years ago (see John 17). Brooke, I, and others involved with How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (a mom's guide to overcoming) have prayed for you too.

We are about to embark on a new way of thinking that will challenge us to a new way of living. Jesus' teaching of the disciples aimed to transform their way of thinking and doing things from that of the world to that of His kingdom. That is His desire as well for us today, and it is my desire as we begin this journey into seeking to overcome our emotions by submitting them to the authority of God. Brooke's method of "Feel, Know, Do" is the tool God has provided for us to do just that.

Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:2

The task ahead of us will not be easy. There will be days when we will fail, but we can look to God's Word again for hope and encouragement. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:6,

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
for they will be filled.

This is not just a casual hunger and thirst my friends...this is a desperate hunger and thirst that seeks to turn away from the ways of this world and walk in God's will instead. And the good news is Jesus said we WILL be filled!!

More encouragement for us can be found in Galatians 6:9:

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time
we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Dear friends, my hope is that we will hang on to these promises during our journey together and long after our time of study (on those not so perfect days) as we seek to walk in the knowledge God will reveal to us! Let's stand on these promises together!

How to Control Your Emotions Book Study

I am so excited! Drumroll please...

The dates have been set for our book study of How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (A Mom's Guide to Overcoming) by Brooke McGlothlin.

Starting Monday, October 14
and continuing each week through
Friday, November 15

join me and other women as we journey together seeking to overcome the downward spiral of emotions that fight to control us on a daily basis. Help is here my friends!

Brooke shows us in her new ebook important Biblical truths we can use to overcome our emotions as she teaches us we don't have to submit to emotions that are damaging or let them control us. Instead we have a choice to submit those damaging emotions to the authority of the Word of God. The heart of Brooke's teaching is found in "Feel, Know, Do" which we'll cover in chapter 1. Next, in chapter 2 we'll learn "How to Overcome Lies with the Truth". Then in chapter 3 "Where Do We Get the Power to Overcome", we'll discover the Source of our power to overcome. In chapter 4 "Sometimes We Just Have to Walk Away", Brooke will take us through steps to remember as we try to process our responses to life's difficult circumstances. Finally in chapter 5 "What Happens When We Blow It?", because yes, we will still blow it at times...but in this final chapter we will see that we do not have to lose heart, that there is forgiveness when we do mess up, and that God is faithful to continue to give us victories as we seek to surrender our emotions to Him.

I would love for you to join me on this 5-week journey! To sign-up, please subscribe here

Here's how our book study will go: Each Monday, I will do a blog post to share my thoughts and ask a couple of questions to help us all get into discussion on the chapter we will read for the week. Then on Fridays, I will host a link-up party here on my blog where you all can link up your blog posts sharing what God laid on your heart throughout the week. If you don't have a blog, that's okay. I would love for you to come here on Fridays and leave your thoughts in the comments section.

More exciting news!! Brooke has generously offered one subscriber to our book study a free copy of her ebook, How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You (A Mom's Guide to Overcoming). Simply leave a comment that you'll be joining the book study and what excites you about this study.

I can't wait to begin this journey with you! I'm praying God uses this book study to transform each one of us as we seek to surrender our emotions to Him. There are victories awaiting us, my friends. I'll see you here on Monday, October 14!

Please Get Me Off This Emotional Roller Coaster!

Am I the only one who has cried out this plea to God in moments of desperation after having let my emotions take over yet once again? I used to think I was all alone with my struggle to gain control of my emotions. That is, until I read Brooke McGlothlin's new book, How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You.

The hope and encouragement I gained from pouring over the pages of this book, not to mention the tools Brooke uses to teach us in how to overcome our emotions, have been an answer from God in my plea for help to finally get off the emotional roller coaster - or at the very least to not jump on the emotional roller coaster as often! In this book, Brooke shows us we have a choice. That realization, my friend, is the first step. I'll never forget the day I realized I had a choice in reacting to the emotions that were welling up inside me. So many times I had given in to the emotional outbursts that left more damage in the situation than any good. I was tired of the feeling of defeat I was left with after letting my emotions control the way I reacted to situations that were stressful, hurtful, discouraging, etc. I knew I needed to change and I knew I needed God's help.

I am so thankful to God for leading Brooke into my life and for the opportunity she has given me to be a part of a pre-launch group of her new book How to Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You. I have read this book and literally cried as I read the words God has placed in Brooke's heart. She is real, she loves God, she loves her children and husband, and she truly desires to help other women (whether you are a mom or not) overcome their own battle with emotions.

No, I am not alone and neither are you, my friend! I encourage you to purchase How To Control Your Emotions So They Don't Control You today and begin learning how you can be an overcomer and finally get off the emotional roller coaster. Please leave me a comment below if you are purchasing the book or to share how this book has touched your life.

I have been asked by Brooke to lead a study of her book and I would love to have you join me. More details on this will be forthcoming, so be sure to leave a comment below of a way to get in contact with you when the dates are set.

Know that I'm praying for you!
